I think a nice buttery yellow would warm it up and not clash with anything. Be careful with yellows, though, because more than any other color they INTENSIFY on the walls. Sherwin Wms. sells a paint called Illuminations which are clear and bright, bring in lots of light and don't look "muddy."

Allan

Pick up a couple of decorating magazines at your local supermarket or book store to see the colors they are using.

Watch HGTV's make overs.

If you ever sell your home, be sure to re-paint all the walls white. Colored walls do not sell homes. Remember.....our tastes in colors are not other peoples' choices.

Cindy

depending on what shade your floors are go with a light color it will brighten and make the area seem bigger, you could go with a light yellow like a honeysuckle, you could go with a shade darker than swiss coffee which is in the whites family. also think about the curtians on that one window. is there any color in them that you like that would look good on the walls or maybe one of them? you could always paint the bottom 3 feet of the walls a darker shade, put in an inexpensive chair rail stained to match the floor and then do a lighter shade on the remaining 5 top feet of wall. just depends on you time and pocketbook.

Sherwin Williams has a color called "Hearts of Palm" that I think would look good with everything you mention. It's a light yellow/green, so it will look great with the brick & really brighten up the room.

Samuel

I would do a yellow or a tan color. the best thing to do is go to Home Depot or something and get those color cards in all the colors that you like. Tape them up around the fireplace and see what works.

Sarah

I would suggest watching some of the home makeover shows for ideas or going to home improvement stores for paint pallet suggestions. The color is not only thing you need to consider but also the shade or intensity of color. I had a dark room with fireplace and wood floor. I have white ceiling, and left the fireplace wall white. I painted a stensil of tree next to fireplace for more interest using brown, green and cranberry. Then I matched the green with wallpaint and painted the three other walls that same green. Its a very comfortable pale color, not a strong green. Choose a color you like, or something to inspire you about the room from nature and go from there. Good luck!

Why not paint a panel in a bright shade of red or orange. don't paint the whole wall, make the main body of wall in white and put in picture frame sized panels
