I left a computer speaker on top of my cast iron fireplace- tried pulling it off-which only stretched the goopy material.. fireplace is still cooling down – but I have NO thought of HOW to get that stuff off??

After your fireplace cools, try using a non-abrasive item i.e. spatula (you don’t want to add scratches to the cast iron) to get under the plastic and lift off. Otherwise, carefully, and gently warm the plastic (maybe from inside the fireplace if able, with a lighter) and wipe off? Or, maybe putting ice cubes on the plastic would ‘freeze’ it stiff enough to be able to chip off.
Excellent luck!
Get a paint scraper and gently scrape it off trying not to scratch the fire place. But, if you do make scratches there is a product you can buy to touch it up at your hardware store.
