How does the gas consumption from my gas fireplace compare?

with using my regular heat? My regular heat is also gas, forced hot water. I like the fireplace b/c it heats up much more quickly but does it burn a lot more gas? I can’t afford surprises this year!

    I’d say the gas fireplace is nice,but a poor choice to warm the house .The radiant heat is warm for a small area.Hot water boiler much more efficient.

    Heat rises so if you use ceiling fans, your gas fireplace will use less fuel but be careful, you pay for the amount of gas you use.
