The stone one my firplace cleans up nicely it dawn dish soap. but you can also try mr clean magic erasor. I dont know what type of stone you have but make sure if you use any chemicles you only use them on a small spot to make sure there are no undesired effects first
You cna go to Walgreens
and get that sweeping log that you just light and it cleans your fireplace like that. Works fantastic and no physical labor is done on your part

Vacuum it thoroughly first, and see how much grime you get, this will also eliminate a lot of “mud” mixing into your cleaning water, eliminating the messiest part of the whole process.
From there, to scrub and wet-clean with chemicals, it depends on what material your fireplace is. If it is marble, clean according to marble care. If it is brick, do that. If it is stone/rock of some sort…do that. Check different websites for natural potions you can place together out of safe household items, and look up the material you are dealing with.
You probably can’t hurt any surface with Murphy Oil Soap mixed into water, but I’m not sure if more heavyduty products are acceptable on your surface.
Use a scrub brush, not a Mr Clean Magic Eraser, it would probably work if it didn’t “erase” itself during use. You would have small bits of eraser everywhere. I get that dilemma sometimes even on a textured wall…but I do like the product for most surfaces.The brush will also get into all those dips if it isn’t a slick surface. Toothbrush for those tiny places like corners, nooks and crannies. Be careful not to scrub so hard that you really start undoing the mortar or grout that is holding the fireplace together.
You can also talk to the contractor who installed your fireplace, a professional that installs this material, or someone at a home improvement place who sells the material.
