How do I clean my fireplace after using a fire extinguisher to put out a fire?

JN questioned:


Long tale small….I forgot to open the vent. My husband has banned me from starting any more fires in the fire place. But he will still use it. What steps do I need to take to ensure it is safe to use the fireplace again (besides open the vent)?

   Watch how your husband starts and maintains a nice fire. Then, someday when he comes home from work, surprise him.

   I cannot answer the first part of your question because I don’t know what type of extinguisher was used.
