Hi there. We are interested in changing the look of our brick gas fireplace. We thought of simply painting the bricks to change the appearance, but we’ve chose that we want to transform it completely. That is, we want a stone fireplace. I’m hoping this is a possible task (especially with all of those faux stone products out there). I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions of what products or what company I could use in order to go forward with this project. Thanks for your time and for sharing your thoughts!

We bought our house last summer and it has a fireplace with no logs in it. It has gas but, so I am wondering, do I need to place in some fake logs for it to work well? We tried running just flame from the gas, but it didn’t seem to warm the house up much at all.
If so, why do I need the fake logs?

i was thinking even one of those stove ones with the pipes, where they may be able to just cut a small round hole in one of my walls and have the pipe run up the side of my house? Does that work? Of course it would be nice to have a full flegged fireplace and chimney made of stone or brick also. Thank you!

We found the perfect home -but it does not have the woodburning fireplace that I’ve always wanted. Gas, electric will not do. There is a florida room in the back of the home… brick masonry foundation and windows. I figured I knock a hole in it and install a woodburner. Feasible? If so, how much should I budget for it? Who should I get to do the work for me, what kind of professional?

I never use my gas fireplace because of the cost of natural gas but I want to take my gas logs out, shut off the gas and make it wood burning. Is that possible/safe? It is an all brick fireplace and chimney. It has a honestly large flue so I reckon it could accomodate the smoke. Has anyone done this with a fireplace that was built as gas?
