Can I use an out door fireplace (a chiminea) in my new living room?

Urban Aristotle questioned:

I ran out of money during our new renovation of our family room. I wanted a fireplace but now I can’t afford one. We have a gorgeous small one that we use on the patio. Could I bring that one in and use it if we keep the windows open while it’s lit?

    seriously????

    No

  2. Schizophrenic Psycho says:

maybe with proper ventilation–but i would not recommend it–it is not designed for inside

no…not if you want to live and not burn your house down..its a terrible thought all around…they are made to go outside..they are not vented properly and get extremely hot and can hurt your floor or even wall

  4. suzyQ™ says:

As long as it’s not too cold outside and you only burn candles in it. It should be quite pretty. You could save for a real one next Christmas so Santa has some way to get in the house.

  5. Mrs. B says:

NO! NO! NO! Certainly a fire hazard! Monoxide poisoning could be possible, why risk it!!! People have foolishly tried to heat the inside of their houses with grills, hibachis, etc. and died!

  6. Matt says:

If you do bring the chiminea inside and use it, I would certainly leave the windows open. You will need to use them to escape once your newly renovated living room is engulfed in flames. Well, that is unless you are unconscious from the carbon monoxide fumes and smoke.

In summary, the smart answer is NO!!!

  7. szycook says:

No, the risk is too fantastic. The candle thought is fantastic!

    NO WAY VERY PERILOUS
